Privacy Policy for Sublern

Last updated: October 2026

Sublern ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Sublern browser extension (the "Extension") available for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge, as well as the Sublern web platform and API accessible at sublern.pro. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, how your personal data is protected, and your rights regarding account synchronization and learning telemetry.

1. Information We Collect and Process

1.1 User Account Information

You can use core video translation features as a guest without creating an account. If you choose to register for a Sublern account (via email and password or Google Sign-In), we collect your email address, salted bcrypt password hash, and authentication tokens.

1.2 Cloud Dictionary & Settings Synchronization

For authenticated users, the Extension synchronizes your personal vocabulary (saved words, definitions, sentences, SRS intervals) and interface styling preferences to our secure cloud servers (api.sublern.pro).

1.3 Learning Statistics & Device Telemetry

To power your personal learning analytics dashboard (/stats), we track word hover events with source domains (e.g. youtube.com), saved words, trainer sessions (SRS/Scramble), and subtitle modes. Guests are tracked via an anonymous local Device UUID.

We NEVER track: your general browsing history, search engine queries, or private communications.

1.4 Transient Media Processing

Speech recognition audio (Deepgram) and video subtitle images (OCR.space) are processed transiently in real time and are never permanently stored on our servers.

2. Your Rights & Data Deletion

We do not sell your personal data. You can export your dictionary at any time or request complete account and statistics deletion by emailing info@sublern.pro.
